The Ontario government has announced that in-person delivery of certain health and medical services could resume at organizations that are able to meet criteria focused on preventing transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Continuation of virtual services is also encouraged in an effort to limit transmission and help keep infection rates down.
On this basis, The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is pleased to announce that beginning Monday, June 1st, 2020 we will begin resumption of on-site services slowly, and in a limited approach. In this first phase of in-person care, only urgent appointments deemed low risk for transmission, will be offered on-site. At this time, virtual care will continue, and will remain the primary means of service delivery for most of the children and families in our care.
Safeguarding the health and safety of our clients, families and our staff is our first and most important priority. For this reason, in-person services will be phased in over the coming weeks and months, as we move cautiously to monitor developments and increase on-site services as appropriate.
To reduce risk as we begin in-person service delivery, only clients with confirmed appointments will be admitted on site, and only one parent/caregiver may accompany a child to his/her appointment. Everyone will be screened prior to entry, and will be asked to respect all physical distancing and associated safety guidelines. Our staff will be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), appropriate for the work they are doing, in accordance with public health guidelines.
We are pleased to resume in-person delivery of vital services for the children and youth we care for, and to continue to offer as many virtual services as possible to support families through this challenging time. If you have questions about the re-opening of our sites, or would like to speak to one of our clinicians or support staff, please call 519-354-0520 ext. 0. Please note that our staff members are checking voicemail and returning messages on an ongoing basis.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward. Our commitment, as always, remains to help children and youth with disabilities thrive and develop their full potential.
From all of us at the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent, stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Donna Litwin-Makey
